My name is Julian Heicklen. I live in Teaneck, serve as Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at Penn State University, and I am the Libertarian Party candidate for NJ State Assembly representing the 37th District. It includes Alpine, Bogota, Cresskill, Englewood City, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Hackensack, Leonia, Northvale, Palisades Park, Rockleigh, Teaneck, and Tenafly.

When elected, my priorities will be to:

  1. Eliminate the income tax
  2. Reduce the number of laws and regulations
  3. Protect individual freedom
  4. Improve New Jersey's infrastructure

For over six decades, I have been active in civil rights. I petitioned for the protection of Israel at its founding, was the Action Chairman for the Los Angeles Congress of Racial Equality, which led to the end of housing segregation against African Americans, Asians, and Latin Americans in California, as well as a loud proponent for the release of Soviet Refuseniks.

I was the founder and Chair of the Pennsylvania Centre County Libertarian Party in 1997. I held several offices in the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania and served on the national platform committee in 2002. I was elected as a Libertarian to three township offices, two county offices, and ran for the office of the Attorney General of Pennsylvania in 2002.

Recently, I founded Tyranny Fighters, a group of Americans dedicated to preserving individual freedom in the United States. I am known nationwide for standing up for free speech and the right of jurors to decide cases on both the law and their conscience.
